Subscription Linen Delivery App
Project Overview

The Background

Uber Sheets is a weekly linen subscription service targeting premium home users. I designed the customer-facing app and the internal admin/logistics management system — focusing on reducing churn and making subscription management delightful.

The Problem

Key Friction Points

Users were confused about what they'd receive each week and couldn't easily pause, skip, or modify orders. High churn at week 4 suggested expectations weren't being set correctly at onboarding.

Key Results & Outcomes

01

Week-4 churn reduced by 38% after redesign.

02

Subscription conversions doubled within 3 months of launch.

03

Admin order processing time reduced by 50%.

04

App store rating: 4.8/5 within 6 weeks.

The Design Process

01

Discover

Analyzed churn data with the product team. Ran 10 user interviews segmented by churned vs. retained subscribers to uncover diverging mental models.

02

Define

Built a subscription lifecycle map — from signup through first delivery to renewal. Identified 6 friction moments across the lifecycle.

03

Ideate

Ran a 'How Might We' workshop with the founding team. Prioritised onboarding clarity, easy skip/pause, and delivery anticipation features.

04

Prototype

Created a 50-screen Figma prototype covering onboarding, plan selection, delivery calendar, skip/pause flows, and admin order management.

05

Test

A/B tested two onboarding flows with 20 users via Maze. Flow B (preview-first) reduced drop-off by 34% and became the shipped version.

Research Insights

01

Users who saw a delivery preview during onboarding had 41% higher 8-week retention.

02

Skip/pause was the #1 requested feature — its absence was the top churn reason.

03

Premium visual hierarchy in the app directly correlated with perceived product value.

04

Admin staff needed a delivery manifest view grouped by route, not by order date.

Challenges Faced

Subscription flexibility (pause, skip, swap) needed to feel simple, not complex.

Communicating intangible value (premium feel, quality) through digital UI.

Admin logistics flow was a completely different mental model from consumer app.

Design Solutions

Designed a visual delivery calendar with one-tap skip/pause and clear next-delivery preview.

Built onboarding with product photography and tactile language to communicate quality.

Created an admin route-based manifest with drag-and-drop order prioritisation.

Added push notification flows for delivery day anticipation.
